Steaming along from Minehead

We woke to a lovely morning for our trip to Minehead and Steam Train ride. Heading away just after 9 for our 10.10 journey out of Minehead.

Now we have taken steam train rides before but this one is a little different, Why ? because its an actual working line covering 10 stations, The station, lines and trains are owned by West Somerset Railways and it's run by volunteers from maintenance, driving through to clipping your tickets. they also run a buffet car so you can experience a cuppa on your travels
it took 1 1/2 hours to travel the length to Bishop Lydeard with a
one hour stop over giving us time to check out the railway museum before our journey back. an experience we both totally enjoyed, this wasn't a speedster and it was a peaceful way to spend half a day and well worth considering if you get the chance
after we returned we headed into town for a spot of lunch and then David took us up the highest point he could find in Exmoor overlooking the coast, with views across to Wales and south towards Cornwall. It was a bit misty and really windy but still well worth the trek up.
On the return journey we stopped at Dunster, a large medieval Village
Dunster Castle in the background with the Yarn Market in the fore
we missed going through the castle but enjoyed viewing the olde village streets and amazing Church.
we had a great but long day and will sleep well tonight. we have our lives in David and Kathleen's hands tomorrow so not sure what we are up to.
